About this guide

What this site is

A plain-English, independent resource about the Coinbase Wallet extension: how it works, how to install it safely, what it can and cannot do, and how the common failure modes and scams actually play out. Everything here is written to be useful before you have any crypto to lose.

It is not the official Coinbase website, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Coinbase. “Coinbase” and “Coinbase Wallet” are trademarks of Coinbase, Inc., used on this site only to identify the product being described. Links that are about the product itself point to Coinbase's own official pages, so you can always check a claim at the source.

How the content is put together

• Sources are official first. Product behaviour and installation steps are checked against Coinbase's own documentation; where a detail changes frequently, the page says so and points you to the official source rather than freezing a guess.
• General where accuracy demands it. Supported networks, fees, browser support and feature sets change. Rather than inventing specifics, this guide explains how each part behaves and tells you what to verify.
• Reviewed on a schedule. Pages carry a review date and are read again when Coinbase changes something material. The date is real: September 2026 for the pages you are reading now.
• Nothing is sold. No ads, no sponsored content, no affiliate links, no wallet referral codes. There is nothing here that earns money from which wallet you choose.

What this site deliberately does not do

• It does not ask for your recovery phrase, your password, or any wallet details — ever, in any form.
• It does not offer to recover, restore, unfreeze or "validate" a wallet. Nobody can do that for a self-custody wallet.
• It does not give investment, tax or legal advice, and it does not recommend buying any asset.
• It does not publish ratings or review scores for wallets or exchanges.

If anything claiming to be this site asks you for a recovery phrase, it is not this site. Details of how the site handles data — very little of it — are on the privacy page, and the limits of what this guide can be relied on for are set out in the disclaimer.

How the guide is organised

Start with the setup guide if you are installing the extension; read features explained to understand what you are getting; read security and scams before you fund anything meaningful; and keep troubleshooting for when a site will not connect. The comparison page clears up the most common confusion of all — the difference between the extension and a Coinbase exchange account.
